Dream job competition- Belvedere Vodka

Belvedere Vodka has launched a new marketing campaign searching for a Global Ambassador, the contest was debuted on the Chelsea Lately television show, it requires participants to upload a one-minute video onto facebook to show why they should be the next Belvedere Global Ambassador and also win the S100,000 contract that comes with the position. While this is more of a world-wide recruit for a new employee the job is being marketed as a prize instead of an actual job in which someone would have to “work”.

The videos are supposed to show uniqueness,creativity, passion and love for Belvedere. For many people one of the ways to show love for an alcoholic drink is some form of consumption and with advertising laws being very strict on what companies can advertise in terms of alcohol, Belvedere is using social networking sites to promote their product and brand and as there are no laws regarding indviduals consuming alcohol and posting videos on the internet Belvedere has found a way to gain unregulated advertisement.

While this may raise concerns regarding ethics, I think it is a great idea and personally would love to win this contest/”job”. The deadline is Oct. 15 so if anyone is interested check out the Belvedere website or their facebook page for more details
