About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Kitaek Kim. I was born in Seoul, South Korea and shortly after flown over to Canada on my mother’s lap as an infant. Eventually my family settled in East Vancouver where I mainly played with my friends but also received an education.

Now I am a fifth year Political Science student at the University of British Columbia. From my studies I am mostly drawn to political theory. I think this makes sense because I like to read stories. Outside of politics I enjoy studying the German language for less definite reasons. To be honest I think German just sounds really cool which makes it fun to speak and addicting to learn.

It would be a lie if I told you that I knew what I wanted to do in the future. Really, I don’t think I’ve ever been so confused. In spite of this I hope that this course, English 301, helps me get to where I eventually decide to go. I am realizing that a large part of finding a career involves luck, and to realize that luck we must be capable of seizing opportunities that arise spontaneously without hesitating.  In taking this course I believe that we will prepare ourselves for moments like these, when the outcomes of our job searches may depend on the quality of our writing.

All in all I am very excited for this class and look forward to working with you all in the future.
