In my group’s final project, we aim* to:

  • Identify parts of the city that are vulnerable to identity/cultural loss
  • Consider toponymy (place-naming) and imposition of it, as a violent and oppressive process of urban renewal
  • Based in racial and classist discrimination
  • Identifying spaces of resilience (homeless shelters, non-market housing) and spaces of vulnerability (Princess Avenue, Woodwards, etc)
  • Create an index for gentrification based on property value increases

*Project is still in progress
