Wow. That was a lot of work. More work than I ever imagined.
However, I am very proud of the work I have produced in Moodle. I chose to create a blended course using the Grade 11 Active Healthy Lifestyle curriculum.
At the beginning Moodle was a mystery to me. I tried to meet the outcomes described in the outline of the syllabus of this course but I am not 100% sure that I did. I still am experience angst about the selective release. Really the eye?
I did try to find an alternative solution. I participated in the Moodle discussion thread in our course, searched the Internet, watched a lot of Moodle videos and read a lot of Moodle forums. I think I achieved all of the other outcomes.
I also played with a few of the other affordances of Moodle. I included a wiki, I hid a web page for selective release within a module, tried the questionnaire, uploaded an audio file, reformatted pictures, used iWeb to create a few web pages, used Garageband to create an MP3 of the audio file from the iPad App I used to create it. There were a lot of things to play with.
Although I will not be using Moodle in my context, the skills that I have learned and the realization of the time and skills required to create a quality course will be ever present as I embark on developing the professional development for the LMS that my school division has chosen.
