My name is Kevin, and this is my blog for English 301: Technical Writing, an online course offered at the University of British Columbia. Welcome! The purpose of this blog will be to house content written during the course. Our instructor, Dr. Erika Patterson, will communicate with us through various platforms, including this one here.

English 301 aims to prepare students for the working world, focusing on developing skills in business and professional contexts. These include, but are not limited to: preparation of abstracts and proposals, applications and reports, and online communication such as email, text, networking and Web Folios. Students will be working both individually and collaboratively with peers, writing blog posts, crafting and developing a proper resume, and building a professional website.

I have worked in a professional environment as a Medical Office Manager for the past 7 years. I am taking this course as it is part of my academic schedule, and while I have some professional work experience already, I always welcome the opportunity to expand further on my current skill sets. I look forward to developing a proper professional Web Folio and better preparing myself for the next stage of my professional career.
