Bio

My name is Kevin Lapeyre, and I am currently a student in the BCS program at the University of British Columbia. I graduated from UBC in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry, and for the past 7 years I have been the Assistant Manager of a few walk-in medical clinics.

For the past 5 years I have been attempting to pursue admittance to medical school. However, life does not always turn out as planned, and after years of fumbling through medical school applications, I discovered an interest in the field of computer science. I have always had an interest in computers, and over the last few years I have been trying to find ways to better our systems at the office. This led me to consider an actual degree in the field. With my extensive experience in the health field, I will likely be exploring options in the field of computer science related to health systems, such as electronic medical record systems, or bioinformatics, the former being an area of great growth and in much need of improvement. While I have some experience in a professional setting, the area of computer science will be a new niche, and I will need to learn new methods that will allow me to better my professional appearance.

Hopefully in a few years, I will be able to start working on a medical records system that can be adopted across the province, instead of adding another one to the pile of 20 different systems currently being used.
