Methods

Effective CLC development, implementation and evaluation rely on the following objectives:

  • Meeting regularly with community advisory committees
  • Hiring and mentoring community-based technical and evaluation leads to develop, implement and evaluate CLCs
  • Providing training to help community members use the CLCs
  • Promoting community use of the CLCs
  • Obtaining feedback about CLC impact from community members
  • Validating findings with community members
  • Disseminating best practices to a variety of stakeholders and through community and academic outlets
  • Obtaining community perceptions of health priorities, wellness and awareness of health resources, and using these perceptions to define CLC content

This research project brings together a unique blend of technology-enabled learning and community capacity building. Throughout the life of the project, stakeholders will provide feedback by participating in surveys, focus groups, town hall meetings, and other community directed practices such as talking circles.
