Today at the UBC Farm we learned the importance of nature’s cycles. This involved identifying the life cycles of the natural world like plant and animal cycles and the role of compost. We learned the importance of seed saving. We collected seeds from mature plants and prepared them to be dried and saved to be eaten or replanted. We learned how and why we compost and practiced using garden tools safely. The chefs made some delicious root vegetable fritters which we harvested from our garden beds.
