About me

I’m in my 4th year of the UBC International Nutrition Major, which combines of some of my favourite things: food, culture and travel!  I have an Honours B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Guelph, which has taught me to incorporate cultural and religious awareness and sensitivity into all interpersonal communications. Basically, I’m always looking for the “why” behind people’s attitudes and actions.  When I heard about the chance to go to Kanyawegi, I was thrilled to put my growing knowledge of food security and nutrition to work!  Immersing oneself in an unfamiliar environment can be challenging, but I believe it is the best way to learn – about other people, places, and yourself.
