This is a post with ideas, resources, questions, and links about blogging as I prepare for a workshop series.<\/p>\n
Blogging combines the terms web<\/em> with log<\/em> becoming weblog or blog for short. This term is both a noun and a verb \u2013 for example, to work on your blog site makes you a blogger. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Historically, blogs started late in the1990s and took off in terms of public access and production with the advent of hosting tools such as LiveJournal and Blogger (later bought by Google). <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n At its simplest, it is a web journal; at its most complicated it can be a full website.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As stated on Wikipedia, \u201c<\/span>Blogging combined the personal web page with tools to make linking to other pages easier \u2014 specifically\u00a0<\/span>permalinks<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>blogrolls<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>TrackBacks<\/span><\/a>. This, together with\u00a0<\/span>weblog search engines<\/span><\/a>\u00a0enabled bloggers to track the threads that connected them to others with similar interests.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n WordPress is a web log tool. It is an industry standard for web publication. It is often offered free to people who wish to publish content to the internet without needed to acquire complicated hosting and web management skills.
