Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand and communicate in basic written and oral Swedish. Through different media (including film, music and text), students will be introduced to Swedish culture and taught to function at a beginner&#8217;s level. Emphasis is placed on communication (written and oral) and the ability to work creatively with members of the class.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Learning Objectives<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; to acquire basic insights into Swedish language and culture<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; to learn about elementary grammar- to use phrases in everyday life (acquiring information, talking about events and plans etc)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; to be able to introduce yourself and share basic information<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; to be able to read and write simple texts<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Breakdown of Grades\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Quizzes\u00a0 30 and Online Material Exercises 10<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assignments (oral and written)\u00a0 25<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Film Project\u00a0 10<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Attendance, Preparation and Participation\u00a0 10<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Culture Sharing Project 15<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Total 100 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>There will be no final exam in this course<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Material<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We use the same material in all four levels of Swedish (SWED 100,110, 200 and 210) so you only need to buy one textbook and one workbook: Scherrer, <em>Rivstart A1+A2<\/em>: <em>textbok<\/em> and <em>\u00f6vningsbok.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Course Description This course is a continuation of SWED 100 &#8211; Beginners Swedish.
