Hi everyone,
My name is Hyunwoo Kim from South Korea, just call me Leo if you feel hard to pronounce it. I’m currently in the second term of the Second Degree programme in Computer Science major (BCS), so my academic year is 3rd. It’s my first time studying abroad so I’m still getting used to all these differences. I lived in the States when I was in kindergarten for 3 years and in primary age in Germany for a year. But I almost forgot about German.
I graduated from my first university in South Korea with BA in Information and Communication. I heard this major is not common in Canada, it’s close to a Media Information major. I spent almost 8 years in my previous university including 2 years of military service. After graduation, I worked in the public bank for 4 years as a business loan specialist in South Korea. I mainly used to deal with variety funds and company credit appraisal, sometimes did trading tasks as well. As I know, the Canadian banking system is different from what we have, so it’s interesting to me.
After graduation from BCS, I’ll probably work in a tech company as a developer in Canada first. But I’m interested in the financial-technology field especially, such as PayPal, Stripe, and some internet based banks. If I get a chance, I hope to develop web or app based business loan systems or algorithms in some of those companies connected to my ex-career. So maybe someday, I’ll go back to Korea again if I get a good offer from there.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all via blog.
