About Me

About Me

My name is Leslie Dawes. I live and teach in West Vancouver, B.C. I am passionate about teaching and I like challenging myself with learning about educational technologies that support best practices within my grade one classroom.

I took a year of TLITE (Teaching & Learning in a Technology Environment) at S.F.U. in 2007-08. This piqued my interest and motivated me to apply to the MET (Masters of Educational Technology) at U.B.C. I graduated from U.B.C. with my B.Ed degree many years ago. I have taught in two school districts, raised three children and my curiousity about the world is heightened more than ever.

My journey through the MET program is metaphorically similar to that of an oyster who works tirelessly to transform a grain of sand into an object of beauty and timeless treasure. This represents my own journey of knowledge acquisition, transformation and reflection.

My purpose during my MET journey has been to explore and develop my understanding of digital technologies and how to integrate them into my teaching pedagogies that demonstrates best practices. The MET program has helped me to improve my theoretical and digital knowledge and expand my understanding for transforming it to my classroom environment and in my own teaching.
