This is a piece of work i am particularly proud of, it explores the divide i feel very personally related to being both a french and english speaker and from 2 countries (Switzerland and Canada) that are divided by language. This essay explores the multinational tendencies of Canada and how the formation of the country has lead to a cultural divide within its population. Exploring topics such as the attempted separation of Quebec from the Canadian Nation-State and the birth of the quebec extreme separatist movement. This Essay teaches us about the dangers of a divided nation and how the sum of a country is only as strong as its weakest link. This essay forced me to explore subjects that are not often talked about in both my country of origin and my current home and had a deeper personal meaning it gave me an understanding of the line in the sand that can be drawn between countries and how even in seemingly advanced countries like Switzerland and Canada there are very real human problem that threaten the very existence of the state on a regular basis. This allows me to better understand war torn nations for example in the middle east where the racial divides are more severe and the fighting seems incessant. This broadened my world view and let me get a deeper understanding for human interactions on a global scale. Conflict seems to be an issue brought up throughout our world and understanding where it stems from is the key to preventing it whether it be on a small scale or a global one.
