Construction Notes

Our initial direction for this project was to assess the relationship between consumer market and sustainability. We know that BC is a major Canadian apple producer, and that our fruit orchards are increasingly pressurized by the external imports. Thus, we hope to design our project so that our product can reflect the relationship local between the local market, sustainability, and local economic sustainability

However, we encountered great difficulties in pursuing our goal. One major constraint is time, and the other is the price distribution of the imported apples. We cannot conduct correlation analysis because there are only two prices for imported apples. In addition, we realized that there are too many factors affecting the consumer market. For example, the consumer preference for certain varieties, the appearance of the fruit, and the seasonality of the fruit can impact our result. In other words, our research question is too complicated.

To simplify our research question, we finally decided to do something relatively easy because the deadline is near….Unfortunately, we cannot comment on sustainability because the subject is too complex. In the end, we narrowed our subject to price alone.

Here are some random pictures showing how we come up with this final product.

Result  in excel format of the numbers of consumers buying varieties of apple.
