Career Days & Graduate & Professional Schools Fair

Standard

UBC Vancouver will host Career Days and the Graduate & Professional Schools Fair at the AMS Nest on September 28 and 29 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Career Days will feature 94 employer organizations from private, public, and non-profit sectors across a range of industries.  The Graduate and Professional Schools Fair will feature 72 schools from Canada, the U.S., Australia, and Europe.  On the website, you’ll find a mobile-friendly, interactive map that students can use to research the organizations and navigate the fairs. We expect close to 3000 students to engage in various aspects of Career Days programming.

Students (undergraduate & graduate) and alumni from all disciplines and year levels are encouraged to attend and:

  • Practice networking skills and gain confidence in speaking with employers,
  • Ask employment and career related questions to experienced and working professionals in fields of interest,
  • Discover vital information regarding qualifications, career paths, and employment and internship opportunities, and
  • Talk with representatives from Graduate and Professional schools about admission requirements, research interests, fellowship opportunities and more.

In addition to the Fair, Career Days is also host to a variety of programs and services designed to help students explore their career development, demonstrating the multitude of ways in which students can explore how to build their careers. These include:

  • Professional LinkedIn photos

·         Information Sessions from various organizations including Capital One Canada, WorkBC.ca and others.

  • Workshops: What Does ‘Build My Career’ Really Mean?, Using Your Strengths to Steer Your Career, Tips from Employers – How to Stand Out from the Crowd, Interview Preparation: Build Your Confidence Before the Big Day, Tips from American Law Schools About acing the Application Process, Do You Want to go to Grad School?, Building Your Rock-Solid Resume at UBC

Complete schedules are posted online and students can register via CareersOnline.

These programs are symbolic and meaningful elements of UBC’s efforts to support students’ career development, however they represent only a portion of what is required to help students build their careers throughout their time at UBC. If you would like to further discuss the ways that our team can support your career development priorities – or if you would like a personalized tour of the fairs – please let me know.
