Dear Graduate Students,
Okay, Okay, the BC Lions got Stamped last Friday. And it was a little painful to watch, but also a little epic? 🙂
Er, buckle down and get that work done. When you take a break, fill out the AMS/GSS Health & Dental plan survey, or volunteer some time to support our projects. 🙂
GSS Advocacy
Your GSS made a submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services ahead of the finalized 2015 provincial financial budget. We urged that they especially consider instituting a BC Graduate Scholarship program, and increasing resources for childcare for students and Co-op placement programs. We’ll let you know what comes of it.
GSS Catchup
This week! Weigh in on our proposed changes to the GSS Executive structure. We’re considering splitting the Academic and External portfolio into two and eliminating the VP Administration position.
This Friday, November 14th from 3-6pm, we’ll be at the Graduate Student Centre, in Thea’s Lounge. Coffee and donuts are on us. Email aa@gss.ubc.ca if you want to be more informed about these changes.
Out & About
– Vancouver’s municipal elections takes place this weekend (November 15th)! Are you eligible to vote? Are you familiar with your candidates, and the issues? Vote. Civic engagement is on You.
– Many thanks to new Grad & GSS Councillor Naman Paul for our photo, for the memory of Fall. Follow his sightings on Instagram @namanpaul.
GSS Volunteer Program
As we strive to promote a graduate community here at UBC, the GSS is looking at starting a volunteer program. We’re arguing having more volunteers would expand our capacity to run more (diverse) events run for and by grads like you.
Want to pitch in? Have you questions for us? Email info@gss.ubc.ca.
The bright side is it’s a four day week – at least on paper.
– Ngwatilo: for your GSS.
