Collaboration with Canadian Universities

We would like to get into the university network in Canada which are working on food tech/science research areas

Frulact will open an industrial unit in Kingston – construction under way, dec 2016 / jan. 2017 first local production.

If we like the profile of the student, after completing his/her studies, further training will be given at Frulact Portugal with view to an offer opportunity at our Canadian plant.

It is normal procedure for us to have the students sign a confidentiality agreement

We are not familiar with timings in Canadian Universities so we greatly appreciate help in advising us on:

o    when do training periods start

o   how long these are (we were thinking from 6 months to a year maximum)

o    the kind of financial support available in these situations – can you explain MITAC or NSERC?

 Regarding the student profile:

  • ideally a final year student from related subjects such as chemical engineering, food engineering or equivalent.
  • Laboratory experience valued: sensory testing, microbiology, FQ analyses, and so on. Ability to plan, execute and provide reports on laboratory work. Interest in the food industry and interest in Innovation.
  • Proactive, good team player, available for travelling, great communication skills and interest in working for an international and fast growing company such as Frulact.
  • English and French languages necessary, ability to speak/understand Portuguese will be a major plus.
