GSS NEWS

Standard

Dear Graduate Students,

I’d like to highlight this moving video about Climate Change Adaptation in Bulacan Province, Philippines, by Kathryn Gwun-Yeen Lennon and Christopher J. Carter. They’ve just returned from a studio Planning course led by Prof. Leonora Angeles of SCARP and the Institute of Gender, Race & Sexuality. The collaboration included students from SCARP, Theatre, IRES and Geography and is totally worth the 1min 47s. Please share any accessible content you’re making about your (esp!) cross-disciplinary research with me at communications@gss.ubc.ca

GSS opportunities

Is your grad department well represented at the GSS? You should have at least one councillor on the GSS Council to voice the interests of graduate students in your department, and improve your experience at UBC. Intake of new councillors is coming up at the GSS October council. Interested? Curious about who your rep on Council is? Contact info@gss.ubc.ca

Are you interested in serving on the Graduate Council? The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies works to maintain and enhance the quality of graduate scholarship at UBC primarily by encouraging a spirit of enquiry appropriate to each academic discipline, and by monitoring and improving the educational process which leads to a graduate degree. The Graduate Council is the legislative and administrative authority of the Faculty regarding graduate programs of study. There are five open graduate student positions. Want one? Contact: info@gss.ubc.ca.

GSS Research & Conferences

LAST CALL! We want your voice in our Poll! It’ll take you 15minutes.

Tell us what you’d like the GSS to focus on in our advocacy work for graduate students on campus, and at the provincial and federal levels; what kinds of academic, social and professional events you’d be interested in having, and what you’d like to see in our communications this coming year.

We’re so grateful for your participation. It literally makes our day.

Like our Facebook Page, we’re shutting down our Facebook Group in the next 7 days. We’re streamlining the Awesome Sauce!

That’s it from me! Don’t forget it’s a Big weekend in larger Vancouver, with the end of the Celebration of Light festival, and the 36th Annual Pride Parade!

Work and Live,
