Off Road Use of Faculty Vehicles

Off Road Use of Faculty Vehicles

It has come to our attention that under carriage and wheel wells of the Dodge Cavalier were coated in a thick layer of mud.  This dried mud had to be removed by the garage mechanic prior to servicing the brakes.  As explained by the mechanic this type of misuse can affect the wheels themselves and the performance of the vehicle.  Our faculty vehicles are not off road type of units and while recognizing the need to use them for research purposes (i.e. field sampling, etc.) they are not designed to drive through farm fields or dirt based roads.  In the future please park the faculty vehicles in such areas as well maintained driveways or entrances to farm fields or on the shoulder of a road or highway where it is safe and visible while undertaking your research.
