Call for Proposals: Mitacs Globalink initiatives

The following Mitacs Globalink initiatives are now open:

Global Research Award (12- to 24- week research project abroad)

The Mitacs Globalink Research Award supports research collaborations between Canada and select partner countries. The award is open to graduate students in all disciplines. Select destinations are also open to senior undergraduates in all disciplines. Mitacs-JSPS Internship (10-week research project in Japan)

The Mitacs-JSPS Internship provides opportunities for graduate students in Canada to pursue collaborative research in Japan, allowing them to advance their own research while promoting scientific progress in both Japan and Canada. Join us at the Sexual Assault Policy Information Session

Join us to learn about the proposed Sexual Assault Policy’s key principles, scope and features, and how to provide written feedback.

Sara-Jane Finlay, Associate Vice-President, Equity & Inclusion and Kimberley Beck, Legal Counsel will provide an overview and answer related questions.

Two sessions are being held on the Vancouver campus on Sept. 20 and Oct. 13. An info session is also being held on the Okanagan campus (Oct.11).

John Friedmann is an honorary professor at the School of Community and Regional Planning in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and continues as an emeritus professor of UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs.

He was the Founding chair of the Department of Planning at UCLA in 1969. A much published author in development planning, planning theory, regional planning, and urbanism his more recent research has been on China’s urban transformation.

He has received many distinctions and honors, including an appointment as Honorary Foreign Advisor of the Chinese Academy of Urban Planning and Design; the Distinguished Planning Educator Award of the American Collegiate Schools of Planning; three honorary doctorates (Dortmund Technical University, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and York University, Ontario); the UN-Habitat Lecture Award; Order “Bernardo O’Higgins” in Rank of Commander, Government of the Republic of Chile; and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He has held visiting professorships in Latin America, Australia, the United States, and Asia. His most recent book publications include China’s Urban Transition (Minnesota, 2005) and Insurgencies: Essays in Planning Theory (Routledge 2011).
