We are pleased to have the opportunity to send information about the Canadian Home Economics Foundation (CHEF). This foundation is the only registered charity that supports home economists and graduates of Human Ecology and other related programs in research, public service, education, post-secondary education and training.

Our purpose is to support home economics professionals (or associations) to carry out projects related to the mission of home economics – to improve the quality of life for individuals and families.

From 1981 to April 30, 2015, over $595,000 has been given in grants and awards. For grant application forms, please contact Nancy Schneider, nancy_schneider@umanitoba.ca  <trustee, Canadian Home Economic Foundation.

I am pleased to enclose details of the 2016 Dr. Elizabeth Feniak Award for Excellence in Technical Writing. These cash awards, one in a third or fourth year undergraduate category and one in a graduate category, are to encourage technical writing for publication, and to encourage young writers to experience the opportunity to expand their writing and research skills, and receive the benefit of publication in a professional journal.

This is the thirtieth year for this competition. With your support, we anticipate receiving several entries representing your institution, and possibly also one, or even two, prize-winning entries.

Please share this package with faculty members involved with senior student research and seminars.

BioTAP: Promoting inclusivity Feb 25th

It’s time for the next BioTAP workshop “Promoting Inclusivity”.
When: Thursday Feb 25th from 12 – 2 pm
Where: BioScience Room 4223 (Please notice this is not our usual MSL location) This workshop will be addressing topics of inclusivity and diversity in the classroom. Our guest speaker, Mariko Molander, will be sharing her perspectives on unsettling the university classroom, and building and fostering safe learning spaces on unceded Coast Salish Territories.
