Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>_______________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Name<\/strong>: MEDI504B\u00a0Emerging Topics in Experimental Medicine (Machine Learning Analysis in Health Data)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Instructor<\/strong>: Dr. Aline Talhouk (Department of Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date\/Time<\/strong>: 2023\/24 WT2 Mon &amp; Wed 1-3pm (Location: DHCC); Jan 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0\u2013 Feb 21<sup>st<\/sup>, 2024<\/p>\n<p><strong>Credit<\/strong>: 1.5<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Summary<\/strong>: We target students who are interested in how medical care can be transformed by \u201cBig data\u201d. We use real-life clinical use cases to motivate how clinical care can be enhanced with collecting unconventional data of various kinds and feeding such data to machine learning methods to build next-generation clinical tools. However, even with the appropriate data collected, we describe the data science challenges that need to be overcome before the data can be used properly. We give an introduction of the main concepts and methods in biostatistics, machine learning, including unsupervised and supervised methods, and data visualization.
