The Applied Biology Program will be interviewing the 3rd<\/sup> candidate for the Assistant Professor in Plant Science position (see Ad) in July. We would like to invite all graduate students to lunch with the candidate, Dr. Mark Paul Selda Rivarez, on Thursday, July 11, 12:00pm to 1:00pm, McM 350.<\/p>\n Please RSVP to Harini Aiyer (harini.aiyer@ubc.ca<\/a>) and include any dietary restrictions by 1<\/u>2pm on Monday, June 8.<\/u><\/p>\n We\u2019d also welcome your feedback following the lunch, using the Feedback Form: https:\/\/ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_aftjzl5JwfQw2TI<\/a><\/p>\n You are also invited to attend his research and teaching seminars, as below.<\/p>\n Dr. Mark Paul Selda Rivarez (July 10-11)<\/strong><\/p>\n Mark Paul Rivarez obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of the Philippines Los Ba\u00f1os (UPLB) in Laguna, Philippines. He started his research abroad with a pre-doctoral research at the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology, CSIC, University of Valencia in Spain. He then joined the Department of Biotechnology and Systems Biology of the National Institute of Biology in Slovenia as a Marie Sk\u019aodowska-Curie fellow for his doctoral studies. After finishing his doctorate in 2022, Dr. Rivarez became a Balik<\/em> Scientist Fellow under the Department of Science and Technology in the Philippines and took up a postdoctoral researcher position at North Carolina State University in the USA in 2023.
