UBC now offers free teaching professional development through the The Centre for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL). \u00a0We have opportunities both in our local learning <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n community\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>http:\/\/cirtl.ubc.ca\/<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and the CIRTL cross-network learning community, a consortium of 45 research-intensive universities working together to improve STEM education (<\/span><\/span>https:\/\/www.cirtl.net\/<\/span><\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n At UBC, students can receive certification\u00a0as a CIRTL Associate, Practitioner, or Scholar.\u00a0To become a CIRTL Associate, students can either take an\u00a0Instructional Skills Workshop\u00a0(ISW)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>http:\/\/ctlt.ubc.ca\/programs\/all-our-programs\/instructional-skills-workshops\/<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or a new non-credit course called \u2018Foundations of Pedagogy1\u2019,\u00a0next offered in September 2017.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For other CIRTL cross network on-line courses, which are open to students from UBC, see the CIRTL-central website\u00a0<\/span><\/span>https:\/\/www.cirtl.net\/p\/cirtls-spring-courses-open-for-registration<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n CIRTL also offers a massive open online course (MOOC), which begins January 30th (<\/span><\/span>https:\/\/www.cirtl.net\/p\/cirtls-spring-moocs-open-for-registration<\/span><\/a>). <\/span>If you decide to take the MOOC, please let us know (\u00a0<\/span>cirtl.info@ubc.ca<\/span><\/a><\/span>)<\/span>, and we can organize a meet-up of interested participants for teaching-related discussions.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
