One needs only to apply slight pressure on the emergency brake pedal and then lift off, the pedal should swing up to the unlocked position.\u00a0 Pressing harder will only engage the brake more and make it seem as if it cannot be released.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">The \u201cP\u201d button to the right of the steering column is for putting the car into \u201cpark\u201d, it is not a brake release button.\u00a0 Apparently someone had applied extreme pressure to this button breaking it in the process. \u00a0Therefore the Prius is now at the garage having to repair this damage.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prius Emergency\u00a0 Brake There have been some occasions were users of the Prius have had difficulty unlocking the emergency brake.\u00a0 This is a simple push down and release brake.\u00a0\u00a0 There are \u201cno\u201d levers or buttons to release the emergency brake.
