Both of these courses are applicable towards the <\/span><\/i>UBC Diploma in Education \u00ad Outdoor Environmental Education<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span> program. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b>INTRODUCTION TO LOCAL OUTDOOR AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Facilitate exceptional outdoor learning experiences.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

EDCP 323 93A<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> | May 8 to June 18<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

EDCP 323 96A<\/span><\/span><\/a> | July 4-21<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This course provides a practical and experiential introduction to the history, methodology, planning, and assessment of local outdoor and experiential learning opportunities.\u00a0 During this course, students learn basic elements around planning, teaching, and assessing safe and pedagogical OEE learning experiences, including field and over-night outings;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u00b7<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>The overnight trip to Deas Island is mandatory for all students.<\/span><\/p>\n

EDCP 423 | July 17 \u00ad August 4<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The EDCP 423 course builds on core competencies introduced in EDCP 323 to further develop and explore the creation, implementation, and evaluation of OEE experiences.\u00a0Particular emphasis is placed on curricular integration and local realizations for formal and non-formal learning environments. Students develop awareness and understanding of a range of skills and processes related to design, facilitation, and evaluation of OEE programming and curriculum. A variety of outdoor experiences will be explored, including an overnight out-trip. Further course details, required fees, and specific information regarding the out-trip will be provided by the instructor.<\/span><\/p>\n
