The UBC Senate has approved updated policies and procedures relating to supervisory committees and University examiners to reflect the enhanced relationship between UBCV and UBCO faculty: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Graduate supervision:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Members in good standing of the College of Graduate Studies from the UBC Okanagan campus may now co-supervise UBC-Vancouver master\u2019s and doctoral students and\/or serve on master\u2019s and doctoral student supervisory committees without requiring approval from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.\u00a0 Approval for UBC-Okanagan faculty in these roles is the responsibility of the graduate program concerned.\u00a0 Note that sole supervision of UBC-Vancouver master\u2019s and doctoral students by UBC-Okanagan faculty does require the approval of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, upon the recommendation of the graduate program concerned.\u00a0 UBC-O faculty are not members of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>University Examiners for final doctoral oral exams:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Members in good standing of the College of Graduate Studies from the UBC Okanagan campus who hold an appointment as a full, associate, or emeritus professor and who are formally affiliated with a graduate program there that offers the doctoral degree are now eligible to serve as University Examiners for final oral examinations for UBC-Vancouver doctoral students.\u00a0 Note that quorum requires that University Examiners be physically present in the examination room, and that G+PS does not cover the travel expenses of University Examiners.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
