National Geographic Society Opportunities<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Join National Geographic Society staff to learn about grant funding opportunities on\u00a0Thursday, May 31 from 3-5 PM in Earth Sciences Building<\/a> (ESB) Room 5104<\/span><\/strong>. Hear about Early Career Grants, primarily for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, which give individuals the chance to lead their first field project. NG has dedicated funds to focus on marine and coastal issues in the Pacific Northwest, but does give grants in other areas that align to their\u00a0three focus areas<\/a> (Wildlife, Human Journey, and Changing Planet). Early Career Grants<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Early Career Grants are designed to offer less experienced individuals an opportunity to lead a project.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Grants are typically funded for US $5,000 and cannot exceed US $10,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>There is no maximum age limit for Early Career Grant applicants. However, applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application submission. Applicants are not required to have an advanced degree. Anyone with more than five years of professional experience in the field of their project focus does not qualify for an Early Career Grant and should apply for an Exploration Grant instead.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>If you have previously received an Early Career Grant or a Young Explorers Grant from National Geographic, you may submit a new proposal after you have closed your previous grant record.<\/span><\/p>\n
