Thanks to the more than 700 of you who voted in the referendum. This will be the event for you!<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is welcome, however space is limited and this will a ticketed event.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/trk.cp20.com\/click\/cg1b-tcp20-gg9i1f-5ksa1349\/\">SIGN UP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>TAKE ACTION TO SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (of which the GSS is a member) is currently conducting a campaign to support Canada\u2019s 350,000 international students.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf you don\u2019t think moving to an entirely new country is enough of a challenge, international students also face unclear and complex visa processes, rising and sometimes completely unpredictable tuition rates, limited ability to work, and difficulties immigrating to Canada permanently after graduation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can read more about their campaign and sign their petition <a href=\"http:\/\/trk.cp20.com\/click\/cg1b-tcp20-gg9i1g-5ksa1340\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you would like to serve as a graduate student representative to Grad Council for a 1-year term, please nominate yourself by sending an email to aa@gss.ubc.ca containing you name, email, degree, department, faculty and one paragraph detailing the reasons of why you would like to serve on Grad Council.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for nominations is noon on Monday, October 15<sup>th<\/sup>, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Elections will happen on Thursday, October 18<sup>th<\/sup>, 2018 during the Graduate Student Society Council Meeting, which takes place in the Michael Kingsmill Forum, the Nest (4th floor) at 5:30pm.
