Upcoming Fulbright Awards Competitions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Traditional Fulbright Canada Student Awards<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Traditional Fulbright Canada Student awards are intended for Canadian citizens who are graduate students, prospective graduate students, or promising young professionals who wish to study and\/or conduct research in the United States. Awards may be held at any university, research centre, think tank, or government agency in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

Canadian students can take up the award in one of three ways:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Formal enrolment awards are intended for students who plan to enroll in a graduate program at an American university. The student must seek admission at the same time as they apply for a Fulbright award. The Traditional Fulbright Canada award would support the first nine months of the student\u2019s graduate degree.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Research awards are intended for students enrolled in a graduate program at a Canadian university, and who wish to conduct research in the United States that will support their Canadian degree. The Traditional Fulbright Canada award would support the student\u2019s nine month academic year in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Independent research awards are intended for researchers who have completed an undergraduate degree or a master\u2019s degree at a Canadian university and who wish to pursue one academic year of independent research in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fulbright\u00a0Awards for Canadian Scholars<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

For Canadian citizens who expect to complete their PhD by the time they would take up the award.<\/span><\/p>\n

BPI Rising Star Awards<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The BioProducts Institute (BPI) has just announced the inaugural BPI \u2013 Rising Star Awards aimed at encouraging women and Indigenous members of the UBC community to engage in bioproducts research. A total of five awards are offered to students and postdoctoral fellows from all science and engineering disciplines at UBC.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Two BPI Rising Star Undergraduate Awards valued at $1,000<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Two BPI Rising Star Graduate Awards valued at $1,500<\/span><\/p>\n
