Our aim is to enrich the scientific knowledge of Grade 5-7 elementary school students in East Vancouver schools by taking the lead on facilitating fun and engaging science experiments that complement their grade-specific science curriculums<\/p>\n<p>This year we will be offering the program to 18 classrooms &#8211; as such, we have space for 18\u00a0pod\u00a0leaders. Each\u00a0pod\u00a0visits the same classroom\u00a0<strong>4 TIMES throughout Jan-Apr 2019<\/strong>\u00a0and consists of one\u00a0pod\u00a0leader (grad student\/post doc) + 3-5\u00a0pod\u00a0members (undergrads).<\/p>\n<p>We are currently looking to recruit\u00a0<strong>graduate students or post-docs<\/strong>as pod leaders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What will you do as a\u00a0pod\u00a0leader?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Term 1:\u00a0<\/strong>Attend 1 orientation\/training session where you will meet your pod members (3-5 undergraduate students).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Term 2:\u00a0<\/strong>Schedule class visits with the teacher. Support and offer guidance to your pod in planning &amp; leading classroom visits with the help of a manual that outlines the experiments that your pod members will facilitate. Oversee the delivery of four 1.5-hour activities to a Grade 5-7 class by your pod members.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>*Mandatory Training Session!*<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>SMaRT Training: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 24TH 10:00AM &#8211; 12:00PM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Location: UBC campus \u2013 specific location to be determined<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>+ BREAKFAST PROVIDED!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note that the classroom visit time is a regular time slot and could be Mon-Fri between\u00a09-10:30am,\u00a010:30am-12pm, or\u00a01-2:30pm.
