Keep reading!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Eligibility: are you a student who self-identifies as female, and Chinese (including Hong Kong and Macao) and\/or Taiwanese? <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">KIN 465: Interculturalism, Health &amp; Physical Activity, in collaboration with UBC\u2019s Physical Activity office through the SEEDS Sustainability Program are researching the facilitators and barriers to physical activity for students who self-identify as Chinese (including Hong Kong and Macau), and\/or Taiwanese. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;\">Three <\/span><\/b><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;\">student project teams are taking on this research by have <b>three<\/b> different focused approaches. Environmental, Situational &amp; Communications Barriers<\/b><br \/>\nDo you ever feel like you want to exercise but simply have no time? Have you skipped out on exercise sessions because you had too much academic work to complete? Our focus group will provide participants the opportunity to share personal recommendations for improving physical activity participation at UBC. Cultural, Gender-based and Social Barriers<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In collaboration with UBC SEEDS, the purpose of our project is to explore and understand the perceived\u00a0cultural, gender-based, and social barriers\u00a0to physical activity for UBC students self-identifying as female and Chinese (including Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Macao).\u00a0 The students&#8217; experiences, ideas, and values will be collected through a focus group session that will last approximately 1.5 hours. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Register to participate: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9SGDyTcmMmmhpOt\">https:\/\/ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9SGDyTcmMmmhpOt\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">3. Time Mapping<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">It has been found that female Asian students are currently underrepresented in recreational participation and physical activity at UBC. This project will be investigating time-related barriers to physical activity faced by self-identified female Chinese undergraduate students at UBC.
