The <\/span>UBC Sustainability Scholars Program<\/a><\/span> is offering UBC graduate students the opportunity to work on a funded sustainability internship project starting January 7, 2019. Current full-time UBC graduate students from all academic disciplines are eligible to apply.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled or Tuesday December 11 at midnight (whichever comes first)<\/span><\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Project title:<\/span><\/b> Understanding the City-University Research Partnerships between UBC and the City of Vancouver<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For this project, the successful candidate will undertake an assessment exercise to determine the current state of research collaborations between UBC and the city of Vancouver and characterise the types of projects and programs, and their strengths and opportunities. Work will include:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>literature review of successful city-university partnerships; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>inventory of existing relationships and points of contact between UBC and the City of Vancouver; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>identification of areas of strong collaboration and gaps or opportunities for enhancement; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>interviews with UBC faculty and City of Vancouver staff to identify the rationale for past collaborations, what worked well, what didn\u2019t, and where they see opportunities for stronger collaboration.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Scholar will work with the mentors to organize and display the information in a visually diagrammatic format and conduct a preliminary analysis of trends or patterns. The work will be summarized in a report and presentation. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
