{"id":5079,"date":"2019-01-15T14:24:04","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T21:24:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsgrads\/?p=5079"},"modified":"2019-01-15T14:24:04","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T21:24:04","slug":"call-for-nominations-sshrc-talent-award-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsgrads\/post-5079","title":{"rendered":"Call for Nominations: SSHRC Talent Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>INTERNAL deadline March 11, 2019 &#8211; <\/strong><strong>please notify our office about your intention of applying by March 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SSHRC Talent Award \u2013 2019 Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The SSHRC Talent Award recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual who, on\u00a0April 1,\u00a02019, <strong><u>holds a SSHRC doctoral or postdoctoral fellowship or scholarship.<\/u><\/strong> The Talent Award ($50,000 value) is given to an individual who maintains academic excellence, has a talent for research and knowledge mobilization, and has demonstrated clear potential to be a future leader within and\/or outside the academic sector. One Talent Award will be awarded by SSHRC from the nominations submitted by Canadian universities.<\/p>\n<p>The Talent Award may be taken up as a fellowship to fund the recipient\u2019s doctoral or postdoctoral research over a one-year period, or may be used, within one year of receiving the award, as a grant to support research, knowledge mobilization or other research-related activities. At least 10 per cent of the award funds must be used to promote the recipient\u2019s research achievements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>: A nominee must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada at the time of nomination, must be an active social sciences and humanities researcher or student, and must hold a SSHRC doctoral or postdoctoral fellowship or scholarship on <strong>April 1, 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nomination Deadline<\/strong>: Complete nomination packages must be received by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (G+PS) by 4:00 p.m. on <strong>Friday, March 1, 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For nomination procedures, please consult the G+PS website (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grad.ubc.ca\/awards\/sshrc-talent-award\">https:\/\/www.grad.ubc.ca\/awards\/sshrc-talent-award<\/a>).
