Please contact us, if you are a student interested in driving an impactful applied research project on Environmental and Climate Change Issues. Topics could include climate justice, ecosystem services, landscape stewardship, urban ecological connectivity &amp; green corridors, and integrated valuation of biodiversity.<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Background <\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sustain.ubc.ca\/teaching-applied-learning\/seeds-sustainability-program\/climate-crisis-urban-biodiversity\"><b><span lang=\"EN-CA\">Climate Crisis in Urban Biodiversity (<\/span><\/b><b><span lang=\"EN-IN\">CCUB)<\/span><\/b><\/a><span lang=\"EN-IN\"> is an initiative aimed towards <b>co-creating interdisciplinary, demand-driven, diverse, and inclusive student-led research that develops urban solutions to the climate and biodiversity crises simultaneously.<\/b> CCUB was launched as a 2-year PURE (Program for Undergraduate Research Experiences) funded pilot as part of the<b> <\/b><\/span><b><span lang=\"EN-IN\">SEEDS<\/span><\/b> <u><span lang=\"EN-IN\">(Social Ecological Economic Development Studies)\u00a0<\/span><\/u><b><span lang=\"EN-IN\">Sustainability Program<\/span><\/b> <span lang=\"EN-IN\">in partnership with the Faculties of Arts, Forestry, Science, and others. <b>We are interested in supporting innovative research projects\u00a0that advance sustainability on campus and beyond, working hand in hand with students, faculties, staff and community partners.\u00a0 <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"EN-IN\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How it works<\/b><\/p>\n<p>CCUB and The SEEDS Program will help:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Connect faculty, students and staff to <i>initiate projects collaboratively<\/i>, by meeting with them to discuss their project ideas, and translating these ideas into <i>applied learning<\/i> projects.<\/li>\n<li>Find a suitable class for project ideas in appropriate senior level (typically 4<sup>t <\/sup>year) classes<i>, directed studies, undergraduate or graduate thesis projects, <\/i>where students can earn academic credit for their work, gain professional experience and receive mentorship from experts in the field.<\/li>\n<li>Shares project findings with appropriate stakeholders where findings are ideally implemented or further built upon by future students working on related projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Deliverable<\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Upon project completion, the student researcher will draft a report and a presentation.
