This is a joint initiative between Student Health Promotion and Education and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, made possible through a grant from the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training. The program ran as a pilot project in 2019-2020 and we are excited to continue the program in the 2020-2021 academic year; the goal of this initiative is to enhance graduate peer support related to wellbeing on our campus. Some students may experience wellbeing challenges, including managing stress, navigating support, finding time for self-care (e.g. sleep, exercise, nutrition) and balancing personal and academic responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Research shows that peer support can be an important tool in helping students thrive academically, socially and emotionally. That\u2019s where the <strong>UBC Graduate Student Wellbeing Ambassador program<\/strong> comes in!<\/p>\n<p>The Graduate Student Wellbeing Ambassador (GSWA) program brings UBC Vancouver graduate students together to build knowledge and capacity for health and wellness peer support. Through the GSWA program, <strong>Graduate Student Wellbeing Ambassadors<\/strong> work with the Health Promotion &amp; Education Unit and university collaborators to support and promote graduate student health and wellbeing. Key GSWA program goals include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure graduate students are aware of and effectively using health and wellness resources.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate conversations and knowledge-sharing opportunities related to enhancing graduate student wellbeing across campus.<\/li>\n<li>Build connections across graduate programs to share wellbeing practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the Graduate Student Wellbeing Ambassador Program for the 2020-2021 academic year.
