Let’s Talk Science Information Sessions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s Talk Science is a national science outreach organization consisting of university-specific, independently operated chapters. UBC Let\u2019s Talk Science volunteers are role models for young Canadians. As a volunteer, you will meet like-minded people, make a difference in your community, be eligible for prestigious awards and rekindle your love of science.<\/p>\n

We set you up for success by providing training, activity kits, funding and materials. There are several (up to 10!) different programs run by UBC Let\u2019s Talk Science that you can learn more about by RSVPing to one of our virtual info sessions on September 30, October 2 and October 7:\u00a0https:\/\/forms.gle\/d1XBrJAUSFqoETGBA<\/a><\/p>\n

“All About Industry!” Virtual Career Panel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let’s Talk Science at UBC is hosting a virtual STEM career panel “All About Industry” on Sept 17 at 1:30pm PST. This panel will include STEM professionals from Amgen, Boeing, Advisian, and Best Buy Canada and aims to introduce UBC students to STEM careers in industry.<\/p>\n

EDI Conversations in STEM\u00a0Panel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join UBC Let’s Talk Science, Centre for Blood Research and the Chemists for Diversity and Inclusion in a conversation about\u00a0Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity in STEM.\u00a0The panel discussion will cover the screening of\u00a0\u201cPicture a Scientist\u201d, though you\u00a0do not<\/strong>\u00a0need to have watched the film to be a part of the discussion.\u00a0The panel discussion features Dr.\u2019s Anka Lekhi,\u00a0Jennifer Rowland\u00a0and Karen Cheung. The event will take place at 3pm PST on September 21st via Zoom.<\/p>\n

Volunteers needed for the Teacher Partnership Program<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Teacher Partnership Program pairs a volunteer (a.k.a. the scientist) with a teacher in the Vancouver community. The scientist will virtually visit the teacher\u2019s classroom throughout the school year and leads the students in fun activities. This is the core program of LTS in which the science topics are chosen by the volunteer and educator together.
