{"id":6729,"date":"2020-11-13T10:50:10","date_gmt":"2020-11-13T17:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsgrads\/?p=6729"},"modified":"2020-11-13T10:50:10","modified_gmt":"2020-11-13T17:50:10","slug":"bccic-leveraging-the-sdgs-for-transformational-change-case-studies-from-the-global-south-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsgrads\/post-6729","title":{"rendered":"BCCIC &#8211; Leveraging the SDGs for Transformational Change: Case Studies from the Global South Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>How are organizations and activists facilitating transformational change in our existing\u00a0food systems?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bccic.ca\/\">BC Council for International Cooperation<\/a> is hosting a virtual\u00a0panel event titled &#8220;<strong>Leveraging the SDGs for Transformational Change: Case Studies from the Global South<\/strong>&#8221; on <strong>November 18th, 8:00am &#8211; 10:00am PST<\/strong>.\u00a0Leading-thinkers from Africa, Asia, and South America will share their wealth\u00a0of experiences in how working with SDGs can promote transformational change in the Global South.<\/p>\n<p>This event may be of particular interest to those of you who are interested in sustainable food systems since\u00a0<strong>Ntiokam Divine,\u00a0<\/strong>who has recently been selected as a\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/food-systems-summit\/about\">UN 2021 Champion of the Food Systems Summit<\/a><\/strong>, will be speaking directly about his work in agriculture and climate sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The event will consist of a moderated discussion panel for the first hour and a half and the last 30 mins will be dedicated to individual breakout rooms with the panelist of your choice to discuss the topics you are interested in.<\/p>\n<p>We will also have other panelists who will be sharing their expertise in other diverse fields.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pam Rajput<\/strong>, Director of the Centre for Women\u2019s Studies &amp; Development<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanta Laxmi Shrestha<\/strong>, Immediate-Past President &amp; Honourable Chairperson, Beyond Beijing Committee<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ntiokam Divine<\/strong>, Managing Director and President of the Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network\u00a0&amp; UN 2021 Champion of the Food Systems Summit<\/p>\n<p><strong>Estefania Charvet<\/strong>, Head of Programmes, <a href=\"http:\/\/southernvoice.org\/\">Southern Voice<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>To join in on this important conversation, please register <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bccic.ca\/event\/leveraging-the-sdgs-for-transformational-change\/\">here<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We hope you will be able to join us for this event!
