{"id":7282,"date":"2021-05-19T14:24:45","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T21:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsgrads\/?p=7282"},"modified":"2021-05-19T14:24:45","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T21:24:45","slug":"competition-announcement-aboriginal-graduate-fellowship-bridge-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsgrads\/post-7282","title":{"rendered":"Competition Announcement: Aboriginal Graduate Fellowship Bridge Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>INTERNAL DEADLINE: June 11, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please notify me about your intention of applying by <strong><u>June 4th<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Aboriginal Graduate Fellowship Bridge Funding<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies will match funds provided by graduate programs (to a maximum of $8,000 per student and to a maximum of $50,000 for the program in total) to support Master\u2019s\u00a0Indigenous students registered at the UBC-Vancouver campus for the 2021\/22 academic year (i.e., from 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022). This funding is intended to support students until they can apply for the next regular\u00a0Aboriginal Graduate Fellowship competition\u00a0in February 2022. It is also intended to support students who were not successful in receiving other funding, such as Tri-Agency CGSM, Affiliated Fellowships\u00a0etc., for the 2021\/22 academic year.<\/p>\n<p>Students who already hold significant funding ($16,000 \/year or greater) for the 2021\/22 academic year will not be considered for AGF Bridge funding.\u00a0\u00a0The AGF Bridge is specifically meant to \u201cbridge\u201d applicants who lack funding until they can apply for major award competitions in the fall and spring.\u00a0 Award winners are selected on the basis of academic merit through a competition administered by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important note<\/strong>: As of this year&#8217;s competition,\u00a0<strong>PhD students\u00a0will\u00a0not be considered<\/strong>\u00a0for AGF Bridge funding.\u00a0 All PhD students who would otherwise be eligible (ie. in the eligible months of study range of years 1-4) are covered by the minimum PhD funding policy and so they are already receiving &#8220;significant funding&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicant deadline<\/strong>: Internal application deadline: <strong>June 11, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Graduate program nomination deadline<\/strong>: Friday, 25 June 2021 at 4:00 pm PST<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual Value<\/strong>: up to $8,000 per student from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, must be matched by the graduate program<\/p>\n<p>Further information, including application and nominaiton procedures, is available on the Graduate Studies\u00a0website:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grad.ubc.ca\/awards\/aboriginal-graduate-fellowship-bridge-funding\"><strong>https:\/\/www.grad.ubc.ca\/awards\/aboriginal-graduate-fellowship-bridge-funding<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Eligibility:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Indigenous Master&#8217;s graduate students are eligible to apply, but priority is given to <strong>Indigenous Master&#8217;s graduate students whose traditional territory falls, at least in part, within Canada<\/strong>.
