What are the consequences for efforts to address the global environmental crisis?<\/p>\n<p>David will reflect on recent breakthroughs at the national, regional and global levels, and discuss both the potential and the pitfalls of rights-based approaches to climate and environmental action.\u00a0Drawing upon his experiences as the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment over the past five years, David will attempt to nourish those who are hungry for hope.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. David Boyd<\/strong><em>,\u00a0Associate Professor, IRES<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bio:<\/p>\n<p>Dr. David R. Boyd is the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment (2018-2024) and a professor of law, policy, and sustainability at the University of British Columbia, jointly appointed at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability and the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Boyd is also the author of ten books and over 100 reports and articles on environmental law and policy, human rights, and constitutional law.
