{"id":524,"date":"2015-08-14T15:36:24","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T22:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsta\/?p=524"},"modified":"2015-08-14T15:36:24","modified_gmt":"2015-08-14T22:36:24","slug":"additional-orientation-info","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsta\/2015\/08\/14\/additional-orientation-info\/","title":{"rendered":"Additional Orientation info"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just a quick email to clarify a couple of things following the email which was sent to all 2015 Winter Session TA&#8217;s on August 13.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There will be an Orientation for term 2 TA\u2019s at some point in early January;\u00a0 sorry for not mentioning that in my email.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>I had a few emails asking if the Orientation date could be changed as September 8<sup>th<\/sup> is the first day of the term and some of you have classes or are orientation leaders or won\u2019t be at UBC until the following week.\u00a0 With over 100 TA\u2019s, it would be impossible for us to find a day that would work for everyone so we do the best we can.\u00a0 \u201cMandatory\u201d should be interpreted as this:\u00a0 Orientation is an important event for all of our TA\u2019s and if you are available, then we would really appreciate you doing whatever you can to attend because we feel it\u2019s important and will be of benefit to you.\u00a0 Your TA appointment won\u2019t be cancelled if you can\u2019t make it to orientation, but if you can attend, please make the effort to be there.\u00a0 The list of attendees is sent to the CUPE 2278 office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have classes or some other reason for not being able to attend for the whole day, even coming for the couple of hours when you are available is better than nothing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Please note that none of the TA training is mandatory, but again, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of any and all training opportunities that come your way.\u00a0 They are a great way of developing skills and knowledge that will only benefit you \u2013 and in some cases not only as a TA, but you\u2019ll gain life skills that will help you in a ton of ways (can you tell I\u2019m a keen supporter of training?!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The completed Schedule B\u2019s have been coming in at a good pace \u2013 thank you!\u00a0 I\u2019m almost a little afraid of what my in-basket will look like on Monday!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just a quick email to clarify a couple of things following the email which was sent to all 2015 Winter Session TA&#8217;s on August 13.
