{"id":3449,"date":"2013-12-20T11:21:25","date_gmt":"2013-12-20T18:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/?p=3449"},"modified":"2013-12-20T11:21:59","modified_gmt":"2013-12-20T18:21:59","slug":"lfs-302-summer-field-studies-in-indonesia-info-session-rescheduled-jan-8th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/2013\/12\/20\/lfs-302-summer-field-studies-in-indonesia-info-session-rescheduled-jan-8th\/","title":{"rendered":"LFS 302 Summer Field Studies in Indonesia Info Session (rescheduled)\u2013 Jan 8th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/lfs-302-summer-field-studies-in-indonesia-info-session-dec-11\/lfs-302b-2014_metr_summary\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3414\">LFS 302B Summer 2014 Field Studies Course<\/a>\u00a0will be an\u00a0undergraduate food and resource economics summer field course in Indonesia consists of instruction, planning and implementation of a performance assessment or monitoring and evaluation (M&amp;E) methodology.\u00a0 The specific methodology, Monitoring &amp; Evaluation for Timely Responses (METR), uses experiential learning (real-world examples) to provide students with an effective tool for independent <i>ex-post<\/i> development project evaluation used by civil society private and public sector professionals.\u00a0 After a week of instruction, three weeks are spent evaluating an actual development project in Indonesia by a team of students led by the instructor.\u00a0 Students are assigned tasks to assess project finance &amp; economics, institutional development &amp; governance, or appropriateness of the project science and technology.\u00a0 The results of all three sub-tasks are used to prepare a final team report.\u00a0 The minimum size of a student team is 3, the maximum 6 (in pairs according to tasks).<\/p>\n<p>An info session about this field studies course has been rescheduled for <strong>January 8<\/strong><strong> at 2pm in MCML 342<\/strong>.
