BARtalk is an\u00a0informal speaker series that brings together UBC\u2019s leading faculty, students, and alumni to speak about important global and local issues. All events are presented by the Alma Mater Society and The Terry Project, and\u00a0feature short remarks from our panel members followed by an informal Q&amp;A session.<\/p>\n<p>This BARtalk is titled &#8220;Fees, Funds, and the Future of Education&#8221;, and we expect it to be a\u00a0frank and forward-thinking discussion on our current state of proposed fee increases at UBC and how it will affect the future of post-secondary education institutions.\u00a0To this extent, we have an excellent panel of speakers including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Louise Cowin<\/strong>: Vice President, Students<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anji Redish<\/strong>: Vice Provost and Associate Vice President, Enrolment and Academic Facilities<\/li>\n<li><strong>David Eby<\/strong>: Point Grey MLA<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deanna Rexe<\/strong>: Graduate student in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, who studies tuition policy formulation in Canada.<\/li>\n<li><strong>May Anne Then<\/strong>:\u00a0President, International Students Association, UBC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More details on the\u00a0Facebook event page:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/581449805293981\/?sid_reminder=565810358690775040\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/581449805293981\/?sid_reminder=565810358690775040<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>This event is restricted to ages 19+.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0panel discussion will take place this Thursday,\u00a0November 13th at 6pm at the Gallery Lounge.
