{"id":4660,"date":"2015-01-06T18:15:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-07T01:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/?p=4660"},"modified":"2015-01-07T10:12:34","modified_gmt":"2015-01-07T17:12:34","slug":"indonesia-trip-information-session-summer-lfs-302b-january-12th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/2015\/01\/06\/indonesia-trip-information-session-summer-lfs-302b-january-12th\/","title":{"rendered":"Indonesia Trip Information Session: Summer LFS 302B &#8211; January 12th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An information session for <em><strong>LFS 302B<\/strong>: International Field Studies and Work in Indonesia &#8211;\u00a0Project Monitoring &amp; Evaluation for Timely Responses (METR)<\/em> will take place <strong>January 12 4:00 &#8211; 5:00 pm in MCML 256.<\/strong> Course instructor, Chris Bennett, will be on hand to answer questions from prospective students.<\/p>\n<p>The course runs May 1 &#8211; May 31, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This undergraduate food and resource economics summer field course in Indonesia consists of instruction, planning and implementation of a performance assessment or monitoring and evaluation (M&amp;E) methodology.\u00a0 The specific methodology, Monitoring &amp; Evaluation for Timely Responses (METR), uses experiential learning (real-world examples) to provide students with an effective tool for independent <i>ex-post<\/i> development project evaluation used by civil society private and public sector professionals.\u00a0 After a week of instruction, three weeks are spent evaluating an actual development project in Indonesia by a team of students led by the instructor.\u00a0 Students are assigned tasks to assess project finance &amp; economics, institutional development &amp; governance, or appropriateness of the project science and technology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An information session for LFS 302B: International Field Studies and Work in Indonesia &#8211;\u00a0Project Monitoring &amp; Evaluation for Timely Responses (METR) will take place January 12 4:00 &#8211; 5:00 pm in MCML 256.
