A new scholarship has been announced by BCFT this year. BCFT would\u00a0like to recognize students who are members of BCFT for their\u00a0accomplishments through the establishment of these new awards. A\u00a0maximum of 4 awards are available (2 for UBC students and 2 for BCIT\u00a0students) for students who demonstrate outstanding scholastic\u00a0achievements, leadership skills and devotion to food science and\u00a0technology. Each award is valued at $500-1000.<\/p>\n
To be eligible, applicants must be BCFT members (through CIFST or IFT)\u00a0and must be registered students at BCIT or UBC. Students are eligible\u00a0to apply if they are currently registered or registered for the\u00a0upcoming year (2015-2016). Individuals must complete the application\u00a0form and send supporting documents to\u00a0chair@bcft.ca<\/a> by June 15, 2015.<\/strong><\/p>\n The application asks for details relating to experiences (for example\u00a0internships, work experience, and lab experience) that have\u00a0contributed to the applicant’s understanding of food science, and how\u00a0this has impacted career goals. Also part of the evaluation criteria\u00a0is the applicant’s involvement in food science-related activities and\u00a0the impact of these contributions. Applicants are additionally asked\u00a0to outline the reasons they feel they are a deserving candidate for\u00a0the award. Contact information for an individual willing to provide a\u00a0letter of support for the applicant is also required. This individual\u00a0will be contacted by BCFT to obtain the letter of support. Please\u00a0ensure that a curriculum vitae (or resume) and unofficial transcript\u00a0are emailed directly to chair@bcft.ca<\/a> with “BCFT\u00a0Student Scholarship” followed by the applicant’s name in the subject\u00a0line.
