VOLUNTEER FOR LET’S TALK SCIENCE’S HIGH SCHOOL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

For several years, Let’s Talk Science UBC<\/strong> has run a program in conjunction with local Vancouver schools to form mentoring relationships between high school students working on science fair projects and UBC students and researchers.<\/p>\n

As a volunteer you will help all the way from designing research questions and their experiments to seeing them present their results at an actual Science Fair.<\/p>\n

Project aims<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0Our aim is to show these kids how fantastic science is. We want to demonstrate that science is much more than just sitting in a lab with a white coat and a pipette and those scientists are awesome people like you!<\/p>\n

Call for volunteers<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Who: <\/em><\/strong>Undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs and researchers<\/p>\n

Location:<\/em><\/strong> Britannia Secondary School. Transportation costs (e.g. gas, car share) will be reimbursed.<\/p>\n

Volunteer Role<\/em><\/strong>: \u00a0Working in groups with other volunteers, your role is to support for your mentee\u2019s science fair project. This includes guidance in designing an experiment, proposing a hypothesis, executing an experimenting, analyzing data, and presenting results.<\/p>\n

Training:<\/em> Thursday 10th<\/sup> November\u00a0 5-7 pm<\/strong> – Pizza will be provided!<\/p>\n
