{"id":6424,"date":"2016-11-30T10:24:25","date_gmt":"2016-11-30T17:24:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/?p=6424"},"modified":"2016-11-30T10:53:55","modified_gmt":"2016-11-30T17:53:55","slug":"student-membership-with-the-bcia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/2016\/11\/30\/student-membership-with-the-bcia\/","title":{"rendered":"Student membership with the BCIA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is BCIA?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The British Columbia Institute of Agrologists is a regulatory body, which establishes standards for the competent and ethical practice of agrology in BC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Membership\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students in agriculture, resource or related programs at British Columbia colleges or universities are welcomed as student members of BCIA.\u00a0 They are given complimentary membership with the Institute and enjoy the privilege of receiving all of the communications and information provided by BCIA.\u00a0\u00a0In addition they are encouraged to take part in Branch activities and professional development opportunities, often at subsidized rates.<\/p>\n<p>Approved membership as a student does not\u00a0guarantee acceptance\u00a0into the Articling Agrologist program.\u00a0 \u00a0 Refer to &#8216;Membership&#8217; &gt; Criteria\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcia.com\/\">www.bcia.com<\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0\u00a0A student moving on to full membership with BCIA must submit a separate\u00a0application form and accompanying documents as described on the BCIA website.<\/p>\n<p>Student memberships are available while students are in school and prior to application as an Articling Agrologist.\u00a0Please complete, print off, sign\u00a0then send in the application form.\u00a0 The student declaration is required to be submitted annually at dues time to retain student membership with BCIA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Download\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcia.com\/sites\/default\/files\/imce\/Forms\/Student%20Form%20.pdf\"><strong>Student Application<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcia.com\/sites\/default\/files\/imce\/Forms\/NEW%20LOGO%20Editable%20Student%20declaration.pdf\"><strong>Student Declaration<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0(to be submitted annually after acceptance)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/files\/2016\/11\/BCIAstudentmembership.docx\">here<\/a>, or on the BCIA website: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcia.com\/\">https:\/\/www.bcia.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is BCIA?
