{"id":6846,"date":"2017-04-27T13:42:22","date_gmt":"2017-04-27T20:42:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/?p=6846"},"modified":"2017-04-27T13:42:22","modified_gmt":"2017-04-27T20:42:22","slug":"2016-17-excellence-award-for-agricultural-students-deadline-may-5-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/lfsundergrads\/2017\/04\/27\/2016-17-excellence-award-for-agricultural-students-deadline-may-5-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"2016-17 Excellence Award for Agricultural Students &#8211; deadline May 5, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong>The deadline for the 2016-17 Excellence Award<br \/>\nfor Agricultural Students is May5th!<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Farm Management Canada (FMC) and the Canadian Association of Diploma in Agriculture Programs (CADAP) have once again partnered to offer the 2016-17 Excellence Award for Agricultural Students, designed to encourage students to improve their critical thinking, communication and leadership skills through a national competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FMC and CADAP are collecting submissions from agricultural students across Canada and will award three winners with scholarships towards furthering their education in agriculture. <strong>First place stands to win $1,500<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>The award is designed to help students develop their communication skills by having the opportunity to voice their opinion on a subject related to farm management.<\/p>\n<p>Students are asked to submit a multimedia presentation, a video, a Twitter chat, a blog or a Wiki, responding to the following question:<\/p>\n<div><em><strong>Certain segments of the general public question the way food is produced, and have misgivings about the use of new technology.
