The Food Skills Education Intern will support the UBC Farm team in the development and delivery of the UBC Farm Workshop Series. Tasks will include, but not limited to: coordination of workshop logistics, creation of online workshop registration forms, liaising of workshops through on-site presence, recruitment of new workshop presenters, and coordinating and delivering marketing and promotion for workshops. The Intern will not only have the opportunity to learn about sustainable food and living skills through workshop attendance, but will also gain experience with educational program management, event coordination, and marketing\/promotion.<\/p>\n
Interns are expected to enroll in the Career Development Internship course (LFS 496 \u2013 3 credits) twice: once in the Fall (Sept \u2013 Dec) and once in Winter (Jan-Apr). At the end of the 26-week program, students will be eligible to receive course credit towards their UBC degree.<\/p>\n
Duties
\nThe Food Skills Education Intern will work alongside the UBC Farm team on the following tasks:<\/p>\n
Coordinate workshop logistics with presenters and colleagues;
\nCreate online workshop registration forms;
\nOccasionally act as a workshop liaison;
\nCompile and analyze workshop registration data;
\nIdentify and recruit new workshop presenters;
\nFacilitate development of new \u201ccustomized\u201d workshop programming
\nPerform miscellaneous workshop administration tasks
\nSupport custom workshop programming<\/p>\n
Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n
UBC student eligible for LFS 496
\nHigh degree of organization and attention to detail
\nOutstanding written and oral communication skills
\nCapable of using excel to collect and organize data
\nAbility to work both in a team and individual setting
\nExperience with WordPress and using social media for event promotion\/marketing
\nInterest and familiarity with sustainable living skills, especially those pertaining to food<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Flexible schedule to be determined with the candidate. Workshop liaising may require occasional evening or weekend duties.<\/p>\n
